You may resume wearing eye makeup one week after your LASIK procedure. You should be careful not to rub your eyes too hard when removing your makeup for the first month after LASIK.
Due to the LASIK flap, if the eye is rubbed too hard, the make-up could become lodged under the flap and thus cause problems for LASIK recovery. Although other types of refractive surgery treatments do not require a flap, accidentally getting makeup on the front of the cornea could result is minor issues or corneal irritation, or possibly infection. A full week after the procedure will eliminate, or greatly reduce, these potential irritations for the other treatments as well. Consequently, this same time line should be kept in mind for LASEK or PRK and for cataract treatments, including laser cataract surgery.
