Will I have 20/20 vision after LASIK? Everyone's eyes are different and may heal differently after LASIK. Not all patients will experience 20/20 vision after LASIK surgery, and results cannot be guaranteed. There have been many studies that report the visual outcomes people have after LASIK. Nearly all studies indicate that at least 90% of all LASIK patients achieve visual acuity that is equal to or better than the legal requirement for driving (20/40 or better). And most studies show significantly higher success rates. A relatively safe estimate of the visual outcomes in most LASIK practices today is that over 85% of patients see 20/20 or 20/25 after the procedure. Factors that may influence your visual outcome after LASIK include: the magnitude of your refractive error, your age, your general state of health, and the health of your eyes. Your eye doctor will be able to give you a better idea of your potential for 20/20 vision after LASIK during your pre-operative exam and consultation.
