How long does LASIK surgery take?
Aug 21, 2007

LASIK surgery takes very little time. The entire procedure for both eyes is usually completed within 15 minutes.

The first step of LASIK – creating the corneal flap – may take longer that the laser reshaping of the eye (step two).

If the flap is created with a microkeratome, this step takes only a few seconds. But if it's created with a femtosecond laser (in an all-laser LASIK procedure), it may a minute or two.

In most cases, the laser reshaping of the eye takes less than a minute.
