Can I drive myself home after LASIK surgery?

It is not recommended that you drive yourself home immediately after LASIK surgery. Though you may be seeing quite well immediately after your LASIK procedure, you will need to have someone drive you home after surgery.  If your vision is clear the next day,  driving the next day after LASIK should not be a problem.

For PRK and LAESK, no flap is created and the cornea could be cloudy for a few days. For these procedures, it is advisable to plan on staying home for 2 to 3 days after surgery and if travel is needed, someone else should  drive.   Your surgeon can evaluate your vision on the days following surgery and let you know whether he or she feels driving is appropriate.
